Robert Wyatt



In 2005, I participated in the first edition of Take Five (an award from Jerwood/PRS Foundation/Serious), and through Serious I had the wonderful opportunity of meeting Robert Wyatt who became my official mentor 🙂 In 2007, Robert’s album Comicopera was released (on Domino Records) featuring my vocals and clarinet on Stay Tuned, a cover version of an Anja Garberek song.





Underdrome



Underdrome was directed by dance choreographer Darren Johnston. It was a large scale performance incorporating electronic music from Warp Records, some of my own music, live strings (including cellist Semay Wu and members of the LCO) 360 degree visuals by Michael England, a choir, thirty dancers, costume designed by Saffron Cullane and set designed by Block 9. Underdrome was performed over a several nights at Roundhouse in London, in 2009.





Matthew Bourne (pianist)



I have sung on many of Matthew’s projects in the past years, including the “Glenn Miller Project (for BBC Radio 3) and with vocalist Andrew Plummer, a tour of “Songs from a Lost Piano” in 2009, and London Jazz Festival in 2010. We are to record an album (as Billy Moon) with cellist Semay Wu and violinist Olivia Moore, for the Leaf Label later this year.

Punchdrunk



Mayming performed in Punchdrunk’s installation of ‘The Bunker’ at Faster than Sound Festival, in Alderburgh, in 2008.

Funckarma



This Dutch electronic outfit released Vell Vagranz (on n5MD label) in 2008, and this album includes co-written tracks Kinnex and Ketayseam. Kinnex features my song ‘Wheres My Thermometer”. A ‘remix’ version of Deer (from album SEAMING) will be released on Funckamra Roel Funcken’s forthcoming album on Schematic label.

Avanti Display



This theatre company’s large scale site-specific project Hydromania, I have performed at National Theatre, Trafalgar Square, Singapore, Ireland, Croatia. My involvement was singing my songs, high up, on top of buildings, surrounded by fountains of water, and pyrotechnics. Drenched:) I also composed the music for the company production of Stormbringer, an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Tempest, which was performed at National Theatre in 2008.

ego in exotica sum



Martin Dennys 1950s exotica band, recreated by members of Toolshed,
first performed at the Green Room in Manchester, and also at Graham Masseys festival Mondo Mancunia, at Shunt, London in 2008. I sang, played piano and xylophone.





Forkbeard Fantasy and Lotus Pedals



…on going collaborations with Forkbeard; pioneers of cross-artform multimedia theatre company, which started in 2001. Musical collaborations for shows (with Homelife) include The Brain, Fall of House of Usherettes, Frankenstein (2001), Shooting Shakespeare (2004), The Colour of Nonsense (2010) and touring live (as Lotus Pedals) on productions of Rough Magyck (at The RSC in 2006), Invisible Bonfires (2007).
